Dr. Jain was born in Ohio and raised in Iowa. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison as an undergrad and was accepted to Iowa State College of Veterinary Medicine after 3 years. While in veterinary school, Dr. Jain double majored in Animal Ecology and graduated in 1997 with his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Jain spent his first year in practice as the sole full-time veterinarian in Des Moines, Iowa. In 1998 he moved to the Fox Valley area to begin practicing at Apple Valley Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Jain purchased the practice in January of 2014. His interests include a whole medical approach to veterinary care including MET, therapeutic laser, and currently studying Chinese modalities, Tui na, Herbal as well as Essential Oil therapy. Dr. Jain also sees the other small, furry family members.
Dr. Jain supports Gordon Setter Rescue and currently resides with two Gordon setters, Baxter and Donnie.
Dr. Johanek grew up in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. As a member of a very large family, she loves seeing them all at their huge family gatherings. She has a bachelor’s degree in biology from Ripon College and went on to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2011 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Johanek’s favorite part about working in general practice is the ability to watch her patients grow, and the connections she makes with her patients and their families.
While at Ripon College, Dr. Johanek met her husband, Ryan. They currently live in West De Pere and have two spunky cats, a black and white tuxedo cat named Ruggles (“Ruggles Snuggles”) and a Himalayan named Easton (“Eatie Butt”).
In Dr. Johanek’s spare time, she enjoys being with her friends and family, including her twin sister and best friend, Sara. She also enjoys golfing, playing softball, traveling, and being outdoors. Dr. Johanek has been begging her husband for a puppy since their wedding day, he has yet to give in to her!
Dr. Carla has been a veterinarian for 30 years which makes her the oldest and newest veterinarian at Apple Valley Veterinary Clinic. She enjoys the diversity of patients, clients, challenges and new treatments in the ever changing practice of veterinary medicine. She feels that the true reward comes from helping patients heal and stay healthy in order to lengthen and strengthen that human-animal bond with their families.
She grew up in Waukesha, Wisconsin and graduated from Cornell College in Iowa and UW-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine in 1987. Her first job was in Hartford, Wisconsin as a large animal veterinarian for 5 years. Dr. Carla moved to Appleton with her family in 1992 and has been a small animal veterinarian ever since.
Dr Carla has two Siberian Husky brothers but misses having cats so she has to get her fill with the cats of Apple Valley Veterinary Clinic. She enjoys visiting with friends and family, watching hockey and a good margarita!
Jennifer has been with Apple Valley Veterinary clinic since 2013. Beginning as a receptionist, she now assists Dr. Jain in managing the practice. While enjoying all aspects of being part of the clinic’s team, Jennifer’s special interest include client interaction, client education, canine reproduction, and nutrition.
Jennifer and her daughter travel to attend dog shows to exhibit their English Springer Spaniels. Their success in the ring has taken them on multiple trips to Westminster Kennel Club at Madison Square Garden in New York City, National Specialties, and many shows throughout the country.
Jennifer and her husband, Mike share their home with their 2 dogs and 2 rescued cats. They have two daughters, Britt and Baillie, and a grandson, Owen. In Jennifer’s free time she loves reading, gardening, cooking, traveling, and time spent with her family and friends.
Sherry has been working at Apple Valley Veterinary Clinic Since 2004. She loves all aspects of her job but especially enjoys dental care.
Her 4-legged kids include three cats: J.B, Bug, and Gemma. Sherry enjoys reading, many types of auto racing, riding motorcycles, extreme amusement park rides, and spending time with her family.
Amber is a 2014 graduate of Globe University Veterinary Technology program. She has a strong interest in dentals and would eventually like to be certified in animal/canine rehab and massage therapy.
She lives with two dogs (Marley and Zoe) and one cat (Bosworth). Amber has always had a strong interest in animals and loves every aspect of being a vet tech.
When not working, she often spends time with family, getting into shenanigans outside or playing video games (she is an avid gamer!). She really love to travel when possible.
Brittni has been with Apple Valley Veterinary Clinic since August 2017 but has worked in veterinary hospitals since 2013 and loves going to work every day. Since a very small age, she has loved animals and always knew her career would involve them. When not at work she likes to spend her time with her five animals: Daisy Mae the Border Collie mix, Zelda the Cattle Dog mix, Albus the Pit mix, Colonel Porkchop the orange tabby and Miss Pickles the long haired tux. Brit enjoys reading a good book, keeping very active with her dogs whether it be running at High Cliff or just throwing a ball and playing tug, taking full advantage of the outdoors, equine care and has undying love for marine animals.
Kaitlyn joined the Apple Valley Veterinary Clinic team in October 2016 and is a graduate of the Horizon School of Veterinary Assisting. She has multiple years of experience in a variety of aspects of animal care including humane society work and grooming. It has always been her dream to work with animals.
She has two dogs (Gibson and Gemma) and two cats (Steve and Veda). She also has a son, River, who shares her passion for animals. He has a fish named Marshall.
Kaitlyn enjoys spending time with family and friends, exploring outdoors and going to concerts.
Shelby has been working at AVVC since fall of 2016. She was hired as a receptionist but is now working as a vet assistant. Shelby started college at UW-Fox Valley & then transferred to UW-Stevens Point for pre-veterinary Medicine. She is now doing an online program for veterinary technicians. Being a vet is the only job Shelby has ever wanted to do.
Shelby has two dogs, a chocolate lab named Maya and a cattle dog mix named Nalla. She also loves rodents and has three pet rats named Elsa, Nova and Luna. In her spare time, Shelby enjoys going to the movie theater, concerts and learning to crochet. Shelby and her husband, Jordan, recently purchased their first home and can't wait to get their first puppy together.
Abby has been with Apple Valley since 2014. After working as a kennel assistant, she became an intern through Appleton North High School her senior year. She completed the internship program and graduated in 2016, but stayed at the clinic as a receptionist and assistant. She is currently studying at UW-Fox Valley.
While not at work, Abby enjoys spending time with her family, especially her Boston Terrier Pippa and her guinea pigs, Bart and Milhouse.
Jeanne started working at Apple Valley in the fall of 2015. Originally from southern California, she has grown to love the changing seasons of Wisconsin. She enjoys spending time with her husband, five sons and especially her two grandsons. Her furry legged kids include: Harley, an Australian Shepherd mix; Achilles, a white shepherd; and Sadie, a Papillion.
In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, babysitting, and walking her dogs. Jeanne loves her job and helping people get the best care for their pets. She loves snuggling with the new puppies and kittens, but also loves the senior pets as well. As a lead receptionist, she spends most of her time greeting and talking with clients about their pets' healthcare and needs, however she does like assisting the doctors and technicians when she gets a chance.
Tessa joined the practice in summer of 2017.
Todd became interested in the field of Veterinary Technology due to his many years rescuing retired racing greyhounds. Todd has been active in greyhound rescue for the past 12 years and has fostered 54 greyhounds through his home.
He lives with his girlfriend, Asha, and his retired greyhound, Allin. When he is not at work or studying, he can be found on a river fly fishing. Todd is also an avid reader.
Vicki has been the Kennel Manager at Apple Valley Veterinary Clinic since 1999. She truly enjoys taking care of your boarding family members, really tries to make them feel at home.
Outside of the clinic life, Vicki enjoys camping at their trailer in Western Wisconsin with her husband, Tom and two Boston Terriers, Elvis and Rubee, and mixed breed Astro.
